Ian
As a lifelong athlete with severe food allergies, Ian has always had a close relationship with food and how to best nourish the body. Ian is now studying for a PhD at Durham University, exploring the potential of human-scale food systems. He holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from NYU, where he pursued a range of interests from chemistry to neuroscience to statistics.
After arriving in the UK during the pandemic, Ian fully immersed himself in the natural world of the Calder Valley. His ecological journey here began with foraging and mycology, before expanding into permaculture.
Ian now aspires to lead people by the tips of their tongues, with a lasso around their imaginations, to a food system that restores balance to our land and our bodies.
Rebecca
Growing up in Todmorden, Rebecca was inspired from an early age by the countless wonders of its steep valleys and windy tops. She completed her PhD at the University of Sheffield studying the impacts of forest loss and degradation on species' climate resilience. Her bachelor's degree was in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
Years of conducting scientific research into the drivers of biodiversity loss have led Rebecca to increasingly seek practical and effective solutions. She believes regenerative land management is critical, to give species options to cope with the many threats they face, with humans as a part of nature, not separate.

Moss
Moss is canine companion #1 and a most boundless source of joy. He's a whippet-collie mix who loves to sprint, to learn & explore, and to cuddle intensely. He is suspicious of all new foods, lover of fruits & vegetables (except blackberries!), and believes that all other dogs can and will love him eventually.
Bramble
Bramble is an eternally strange, loving and hardy border collie. She adores Moss (the feeling is begrudgingly reciprocated) and also loves exploring and trying to get into mischief. Very loyal, appreciates banana (Moss does not) and enjoys gnawing on frozen brassica stem.
